What does DPC mean?
This stands for Damp Proof Course, and is the term given to treatments and upgrades designed to prevent damage from rising damp, penetrating damp and ground water. It is a barrier which, when installed, prevents water seeping into your walls and causing significant damage. It often involves drilling into walls to inject a barrier material, but the exact method may vary depending on what’s best for your property.
What causes damp?
Damp thrives in poorly ventilated, cold and poorly maintained properties. It is especially problematic in newer properties, which don’t always have the best ventilation in place. It can affect older properties, where previously installed damp proofing may be at the point of failing due to age. Damp can also be cause by leaks, defective guttering, condensation and high ground levels.
How much will my repairs cost?
This is entirely dependent on the severity of damage and the work required. We will always provide a competitive quote before work begins. Quotes are valid for up to 3 months.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes. All damp and timber treatments come with a 20-year guarantee. Waterproofing is guaranteed for 10 years, and condensation systems for 2 years.
What type of damp proofing will I need?
This depends on what is causing your damp problems, and the property itself. Common methods include injectable barriers, basement tanking and cavity membranes.
How soon can I decorate?
We advise that walls take around one month per 25mm wall thickness to fully dry out. This can vary depending on temperature, ventilation and how severe the original issue was.
Do I already have damp proofing?
Most properties will have some form of damp proofing. If you are unsure or are concerned that previously installed methods aren’t sufficient, give our team a call.

A father and son team Stuart and James came to my property. Their advice was informative and relatable. I asked them to do the work, which was done perfectly. It's a shame I can only give them 10/10. I highly recommended using their services, much thanks from William and Elaine from 15 Stormont road.Posted on A BarkerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Would like to thank James and Stuart for all their help with my property I’ve recently bought. I called Stuart to ask if he would come and inspect the property due to the floors feeling spongey and signs of fungus when I had ripped out the old kitchen. From the beginning, Stuart was very transparent, providing a full report and thoroughly explaining recommended treatments needed - dry rot, wet rot and woodworm. It was at first a bit of a shock and quite daunting thinking the house needed this much doing to it but Stuart completely put my mind at ease with his expertise. James came to do all the treatments this week and worked so hard to rectify all the problems inside the property, and also completed a damp course for preventative measures before renovating starts. I honestly can’t recommend the company enough - reliable, professional and reasonably priced. Unsung heroes, thanks so much!Posted on Lieza AlbistonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you.Posted on David JepsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Stu from NWDR came to the house and quickly identified the cause of the problems we were experiencing. He was friendly, polite and explained in straightforward terms what the cause of the problem. He also advised how we could simply address the issue ourselves without the need for any intervention from NWD or any other specialist. It was clear he had a depth of professional experience and everything he said made perfect sense. Further, he did not charge anything for this advice. If we ever have any problem with damp or dry rot we will be certain to use his company because of their professionalism, friendliness but most of all because of the trust we have in their service.Posted on Luke BirchallTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We would absolutely recommend Stuart and the team at NWDR. We unfortunately had a bad case of dry rot in the subfloor of a recently renovated kitchen-diner area. Stuart was able to minimise disruption to affected area even propping up work tops and making sure everything could be installed back quickly. We had another company come to survey and quote for the work who genuinely seemed gleeful when advising that all the joists and floorboards would have to be replaced, without even having a proper look in the sub floor. Stuart came and used a camera to firstly identify the problem and then advised sensibly that they would only need to expose, treat and replace a proportion of the area and were confident it could be treated and solved with minimal disruption. They clearly know their stuff and their work is insurance backed with guarantees issued. We would instruct their services them again if we needed any work done in the future and would definitely recommend to others.Posted on George MaundTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 10/10 - ahead of time, exactly to budget - and a very high standard of work. Reliably and swiftly fixed a wet rot issue precisely as planned. Other firms quoted us double the price and for unnecessary extra work (be careful of false diagnoses from the larger companies). Will be using Stuart & NWDR again - for heritage repointing work, and they're expert joiners too.
